Radom restart...

OK, my new comp has been plauged by this every so often and I'm not sure where to look. I think I posted something about it earlier but this seems a tad bit different. Just recently, I was going to a site. I had just cut the computer on a few minutes ago. In firefox, I had a few tabs open, and I was clicking to open another tab when it just restarts :eek:

As before, the HDs spin down and it goes back to the Abit screen. It'll boot up again and it's been fine since. I've been using this machine fairly hard, and playing some rather rough games on it and had no problems recently. Any clue what might be causing this?

Temps are fine, BTW. Case was around 88F, CPU was around 106F(after the restart...) Besides, this mobo has alarms on it where it'll warn me if something's up.

I dont know the average temps and such for the computer, but your readings sound a little high from what Ive heard, so that could be a problem? Other than that, I would consider the psu a possibilty. Maybe check your wiring, or try booting with one or more devices disconnected and see if the problem persists.

Well, unfortunetly there's not much to remove on this board. As for the HD's, they are in a RAID, so I can'd do much with them either... I'll check my wireing sometime as I know it's not the best...

What's bad is there's no rhyme or reason for this. Last time it did this was about a week ago. It's been fine untill just a couple minutes ago... One of the reasons I built this machine was because my old comp was getting age on it and I DIDN"t want to deal with these problems -.-

Your temps are fine. I had the same exact problem with my computer about 6 months ago. I tested everything and finally gave up and took it to a local store. The power supply was bad. With the symptoms you describe, i can almost guarantee that is your problem.

does the computer continualy reboot at times, or was this just a one time occurance? If its happeneing fairly often, its probably the psu like mentioned before. This is almost the exact problem I had. Got the psu replaced under warranty, but have yet to install it to see if it works. Anyway, test that if you can, maybe try the psu from your old comp.

Hmm -.- I'll send a message to Coolermaster and see what they say. What's so bad, as I mentioned, is this is fairly random...

FYI, I find these customer support people to be real slow and unreliable. Diablotek was the one that did my psu, but it was hard enough just finiding a phone number and getting a response, than it cost me money to send the bad psu back to them :{

Hehe diablotek aint the best PSU make out there either ;)

@The Other One:
Whats voltage stability like? And what PSU do you have?

I had random restarts for ages on my comp. I finally narrowed it down to be the graphics card (crappy GeForce FX5200 128Mb AGP8x). After trying several different drivers (all released in the last 6 months), i tried one that was around 11 months old. Did the job fantastically, yeh sure im running a year old driver but hey it works and doesnt restart randomly......
