Raid 0 40 gig & 20 gig

I've been thinking about buying a raid card for a while now but i'm not sure how it would work with my current setup. I have one 40 gig hard drive and one 20 gig hard drive. I want to run a raid 0 configuration but i don't know if i'll loose half of the size of my 40 gig hard drive. Is there any way to configure it so i can have 60gigs? I've tried looking it up but there isn't much information on the subject of different sized hard drives. Also if there would be a 20 gig loss could i partition the 40 gig hard drive in order to regain those 20 gigs?

i think the only way would be is to partion both of them and lose 20 gigs on the 40 gig harddrive.
