i've been doing alot of reading about raids 0,1,5,6,10,50,51... lol too many friggin options..

anyways,

I'm putting together a storage device and i wanted to reach atleast 8tb..with the option of going higher in the future. It will be holding my itunes movies/music/tv shows...along with my photos.(i have over 500gigs of photos already lolz)

what raid will provide the most failsafe and performance. i will be streaming the itunes materials to about 5-6 other computers in the house.. not at once.

also will green drives suffice? or should i go with faster drives. this computer will be on 24/7 so i would like to keep my power bill down as much as possible...

and can anyone offer suggestions on a good raid card (if needed)

cpu/mobo i am still in the air ... trying to find a good watt/performance ratio.

if you know a good setup i'm all ears :)

thank you all for your help

Any drives will work, you don't need raid edition drives or anything special. People will tell you certain drives are more likely to fail and what not, while sometimes true a lot of the time they had one fail and they don't like x model/brand anymore.

I don't think you'll find many controllers that will do RAID6, most will do 0,1,10 and 5.
