I tried setting up a raid, My MOBO supports: 0, 1, 0+1...however, i only have two hard drives so i setup RAID 0 for performance. However, i have to reinstall everything and formatt it but the computer crashed serveral times after formatting and install windows. So i just used one hard drive. Is there a possible way to setup a raid without having to format all the drives and install windows.

if anyone has any idea let me know please.....

thanks.

I'm running RAID0. It was a pig to set up as the drivers had to be loaded from floppy prior to installing Windows. The short answer to your question is no as far as I know. You'll need to partion and format the array, then load the RAID drivers during the XP installation routine. I take it the drives are identical incidently?

Not sure if you'll want to hear this, but it's seriously not worth it unless you are doing something that relies heavily on disk I/O performance (like a database server for instance). Games for instance will see pretty much no difference. I wouldn't bother doing it again.

I setup my two harddrives that are running in RAID0 right when I bought them, and I didn't have any problems...but as far as I know, there isn't any way that you can setup RAID0 without formatting both drives.
