Raid & IDE on same Internal Sata controller?

Hey guys,

I was wondering what to do with my 4 hard drives. My old sata boot drive crapped out on me so I decided to upgrade my computer to a new c2d, MB, new vid card and drives. I bought two new drives with the intention of using them in raid 1 for my boot drive. I also have 2 Sata 1 drives for storage (Pictures, vid files and such). If I set my internal sata connectors to raid, how would I go about using my 2 other backup drives in ide mode? I don't want to raid them as there is different data on both that I want to keep.

Those backup drives are internal so I'm not sure how to do this. I do have an external sata connector on the MB I could use but they are't external drives. The board is a P5B deluxe by the way.

Any ideas?

Not RAIDing the backup drives doesnt mean putting them in IDE mode, whatever that means. Just RAID the two for the boot drives and dont RAID the other two. You dont have to do anything special.

Thanks Bob, I just wanted to make sure as when the computer boots it shows all drives on the internal sata controller as raid even though I didn't set them up as that.

Thanks for the info, it's appreciated.
