RAID Problems.

Hi guys

About 6 moths ago, I built myself a nice new PC! Here are the spcs :

MB - Super Micro X8DAH+-F
RAM - 6 x 4 GB ECC registed.
Processor - 2 x Intel Xeon X5650
HD - 5 x WD Caviar Gereen 2TB (in RAID 0)
1 x OCZ Agility 2 SSD (for OS)

Fantastic machine, absolutely flys! however I am beginig to have a few problems. Sometimes, when I use the RAID, for simple things, like making a new project in Maya it will basically kill the machine. The application will completely freeze and if you look in 'Computer' it will no longer be able to see the size of the drive, but will on everything else. You will be able to get into to the drive fine, just not see the size.

Then, if you navagate to the folder that it is creating/created, it will crash explorer, both of the applications then become completley locked and you are unable to kill them, even in processes on Task manager. The only way to fix this problem is by manually power cycling it.

Then once it reboots, it will hang on 'casspnp.sys' for a few mins the continue to boot.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Kind Regards

Sam Wildig

I would see if there are any updates to the drivers for teh RAID controller. Also, are you using an onboard RAID controller or an addon? what model if addon.

Thanks for the reply!

Just checked the chipset drivers - all up to date.

The RAID is currently in hardware under an Intel ICH10R controller. And I can't see anything there, bar flashing the BIOS?
