ram adapter?

is there such a thing as a ram adapter that alows you to put 2 ram cards into one slot? because my computer has 2x1gb in each slot, i would like to upgrade it with memory that i have from a previous computer;)
 
nope, if the PC is older there's a chance it only supports 2GB of ram anyway. what kind of motherboard is it?
