RAM affecting NIC?

A customer's computer that I'm working on has 128mb RAM. When I upgraded her system to 1Gb RAM the NIC was not recognized by Device Manager. When I put the 128 stick back in the NIC was recognized. The amount of RAM shouldn't affect the functionality of a NIC and I never had this problem before.

Any thoughts?
 
Do you know what the maximum amount of RAM that the computer can handle? Perhaps you installed more then the motherboard can recognize, which caused the sporadic behavior.
