ram compatibility?

hey all.
I'm looking to add some more ram to my system.
I'm currently running an ASUS P4S-333 motherboard, (it's super oldschool) and it's got 1x256mb DDR333 Samsung ram, as well as 1x512mb DDR333 Samsung ram.
Local stores have been telling me that DDR400 will clock down to DDR333, however I'm not sure if everything would jive between

1x256mb DDR333 Samsung ram
1x512mb DDR333 Samsung ram
and potentially
1x512mb DDR400 Samsung ram.
The only reason why I wouldn't buy DDR333 is because it's harder to get now, and it's more expensive!

I've had issues in the past with other computers where I didn't get the same speed ram (ie pc100 and pc133), and even different brands.

Any insight into this issue would be great.
Thanks!

if you go to www.crucial.com, there is little questionaire on the front page where you put in what the name of your manufacturer, wether you have desktop or notebook, and your model #, and it will give you all compatable ram choices, gaurenteed or your money back. (yes, they are that confident)

You shouldn't have a problem using the faster ram, it'll just run at the speeds of the slower ram.
