Ram, CPU and Motherboard Compatibility.

Hello,

I am currently buying parts for a new computer build and have become stuck. I am planning on buying a Asus P7P55D LE Motherboard and a Intel i5-750 CPU.

I have become stuck on what type of memory I need to buy. I need 6GB of DDR3 Memory but as this is only my first build, and I am only 14 I lack quiet a bit of knowledge in this area.

I do not want to purchase something and find out that it will not be compatible.

Would anyone be able to suggest some low price if possible ram that I could purchase that would be compatible with this?

Thanks,
Mackenzie.

What you are looking for is, as you said, DDR3 RAM, but you need it for the socket 1156 motherboard. RAM is quite expensive now so 4G (I know you said 6G but just go with it) of RAM (from say, Kingston) is about $100-$130 depending on where you are.
Depending on where you live depends on where you buy from so sorry I couldn't really give you any links.

Thanks for the help awildgoose.

As I have no idea what I am doing in terms of compatibility could someone please show me or share a link of what would be suitable for this mobo or tell me the things I will need too look for in the description so the 6gb of DDR3 will work with the Mobo? I was looking through the compatible memory list for the mobo I was looking to purchase but I could not make any sense of the information on their.

Anyone else able to share some info?

Thanks :)

So basically, you are buying (or already bought) a motherboard that you need a socket 1156 CPU for (which are i5's and lower i7's). There are different types of DDR3 RAM or different socket types, but what you need is DDR3 RAM for socket 1156 motherboards. I don't really have a link because right now... but someone else should. sorry.

i have the asus p7p55d premium motherboard. and i noticed it had a list of compatible ram in the user manual. also im not sure if its on you version of the board but mine has a MEM OK button, and what it does is automatically formats the ram you have bought to be compatible with the motherboard. it could be really handy.

also i would sudjest getting patriot sector 5 memory i have almost a very similar build to you and thats what i have. its a little more expensive but it will perform great.
