Ram for Overclocking..

I have a intel d865perl mobo a 3.2ghz and a gig of kingston pc2700 (2x512) and now iam wanting to do some overclocking. So i think it is time for some new ram. I want to get a gig for now but in a few months iam probly going to upgrade to 2. So i dont know if i should get a gig stick or 2 512s? And i dont know how many double sided and single sided sticks my mobo can support. My budget is $150 for a gig so could you guys please send me some links. (REMEMBER ram is for OCing) THANKS
 
TCCD is a memory chip cpabable of scaling uber high frequencys. Not sure if it will fit in your buget though.

Geoff why are you showing 1 gig sticks instead of 2 X 512? This might be a dumb question but dont 512 Mb sticks have tighter timings and can run in dual channel?

Oh and Aero, if you put the new stick in with your old one, it will be downgraded to teh old ones speed and timings, so theres no point of adding on.

Yea i know iam selling my pc2700. Iam gettin better ram to do some OCing

I dont really want to go over that price. But if it is worth $25 extra should i go with the titanium over the platinum http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227054
if there is anything better send me the links. Is that corsair xms better? and is the gold better the the titanium and platinum?

timing not really, dual channel obsolutly

dual channel is an ok feature but you should be willing to drop it if there is the possibilty of near future upgrade (ie moving to 2 x1GB )

Also dont worry too much about getting the tightest timings, since when you overclock it's likey that you will need to slacken them off anyway, feel comfortable with cas 2.5 the difference aint all that anyway

what about gskill, ocz and giel i thought those were better for ocing. I just dont know what ones to get.

Generally, if you have to ask, odds are you wont notice much

Compared to 1GB sticks, generally yes. But that is changing quickly

Or get memory that is voltage friendly
