Ram & more Ram

I am wondering just what proceedures I have to go thru to actually get my desktop (Acer:eek:) to recognise the extra ram I installed. I opened the setup but couldn't tab/whatever to get to where I could actually type in the new ram (a whopping 256 M:o) to upgrade the system information.

you can not just type in the amount of ram you need, its a physically available memory which is installed on your mother board and the system recognizes it automatically.

if this is not what you are looking for, type in your specific problem with complete details,
and bro, 256m ram is at abt instinction.... lol
come back with more details on your question.

There should be a manual online if you research your computer model a bit. Though I doubt it'll be difficult at all. Worst case, you may need to disconnect a few things so you can gain access to the RAM. Or some cases (older Dells in particular) were a real pain to open up :P
