Hi,
I bought 512 DDR 2700 to my laptop pc. When i replace my old 256 MB DDR 2100 in the first slot with this new one (to the same ram slot) computer not boot properly;
screen is blank, no sound signals, fan speed is max, the power led is on and keyboard not reaction.
When i insert 512 MB to the second slot, nothing change. When i returned to 256 MB and insert to the second slot - the same problem, but when i returned to 256 MB and the first slot the pc turn on with successful. What maybe wrong?
This is Medion 40100 WID2000 series notebook, anyone has had similar problem with this model?
thanks
ps. sorry for my bad english :)

Defective RAM, defective ram bay on motherboard, incorrect type of ram for laptop.

Those are my guesses, but I'm very unfamiliar with this laptop.

so your system now has 512mb of memory, 2x256mb?

If so and you are trying to put 1 stick of 256mb and another of 512mb, it won't boot most probably because it is mismatched memory.

Try it with only the 512mb stick in and see if it boots.

If not, check your laptop to see if it can handle more than 512mb (a google search of the laptop name and maximum memory will come up with it. For example, Dell <model name and number> maximum memory and it should tell you). If it can't then it is already at it's top limit.

Aastii, no i have one stick 256, the 512 not working alone too :( I clear CMOS setting and i clear the slot with alcohol and its nothing change.

My laptop support up to 2 GB according to the manufacturer's. What can I do now? maybe new laptop? :/
