ram not being dected

i just in stalled 12 gigs and windows is not showing its there when i go to
task manager. but cpu-z shows the 12 gigs.
i have a asus rampage lll formula and the ram i put in there is corsair vengeance.

update:
i just tried the memOK button the mother board and now windows shows 8gigs so it kinda worked but not fully. still missing the last 4 gigs
