RAM problems

Hello,

Currently my computer has two 512 MB pieces of RAM. But I have removed two more 512's out of my other computer to put in this computer. When I insert the other 2 the computer won't even boot, if I load with just 3 pieces (2 old ones, 1 new one) the computer boots but doesn't recognize the other 512.

How can I go about getting all four to work so I have 2GB of ram?

Well it would help to know what the memory you took out of the other computer was.

Are the sticks you pulled out the same as current ones?

Did you make sure they are compatible?

Try putting the original 2 chips in slot 1 and 3, and the new ones into 2 and 4..
