Ram problm P945/e6400

I jus bought 1gb ddr2 533 similar to the one i have but wen i put both in the pc goes on no light on monitor and then restarts. Tested both ram chips individually they quite fine only wen they in together. Got a P945 board e6400 cpu x1650pro 160gb sata. Help plz

It's sounds like a mismatch of timings being seen. The best way to add memory is by buying the same size, same type, same Latency, and usually made by the same company. You would now need to buy a second one of either to run as a matched up pair. The best way to order memory to see two dimms is to buy two at once one for each channel.

Are you mixing single and double sided RAM?

That would be a row of IC chips on only one side of a dimm while a dual sided would see a row of chips on both sides. That's why the recommendation is always there for buying the same type of memory when you go to buy more. Some wide range timings can cause problems at times as well as a clash between single and dual sided. They simply won't work together.
