RAM question

I have 2 x 1 GB DDR 2 RAM.

Now when I open up the list of processes running, it shows that I have a total of 3428 M, even though I have 2GB. Why is this?

I believe the reason it shows you as having 3,428 MB is because that is not only the amount of RAM you have, but the total virtual memory. Virtual Memory includes both the RAM space, and the page file.
