ram question

1.) i have 3 g skill 667 installed right now so would getting 2 of these and taking out one of the g skills. or would just buying this 2gb kit with a faster speed be better.

or if you guys know of a site which has better ram deals plz let me know :D

You're always better getting a kit because most manufactures ensure they match. That's the problem if you bought two single 1GB sticks they may not match and won't work together. The RAM has pretty good reviews and looks to be a solid buy.

I wouldnt mix and match RAM sticks to be honest you can get so many problems. Why do you need more than 3GB anyway?

The kit is faster but that's because it's DDR2-800 not DDR2-667 and also because you will only use 2 slots instead of 4.

If your system isn't doing a lot of paging now then I would say go for the 2GB of DDR2-800. If it is doing a lot of paging you may be better with more but slightly slower RAM.

Another thing to keep in mind is you'll be approaching your addressable RAM limit with 3GB in 32bit windows.

yeah but another question how much does the ram speed effect gameplay in games i dont care for loading times but i want to most fps because i like to record my gameplay, make montages, and stuff

As long as you have enough RAM it doesn't really affect loading times at all, that's more hard drive bound. Again, as long as you have enough RAM adding more or making it faster will only help performance so much. There's a point where you can only tell when benchmarking.

I would expect recording to be CPU and hard drive bound as it's not going to be uncompressed (takes CPU power) and the file has to be written to the hard drive.
