RAM question?

Hey guys, haven't been on in a while but back because of my new laptop

Okay just a quick question, but I know nothing about RAM

What kind of RAM would I need for this? I want to bring it up to 4GB so I'll need 2GB Sticks but I don't know how to differentiate between the different speeds and stuff, so I guess what I'm asking is can anyone link me to a 2GB pair of RAM that is both cheap and good performing for this laptop?

Knowing the laptop model would be much more helpful so we could look up the mother board and see how much, and the type of RAM it supports...

What do you mean? Wouldn't having one stick of 2GB and one stick of 1GB RAM make it so it wouldn't run dual-channel therefore I wouldn't notice a difference? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that how it works?
