Ram question

hey guys...i have PC 3200 dual channel ram in my pc at the moment (2 x 512mb) i have an extra stick of 512 mb and another 256 mb of pc 2700 ram not dual channel obviously...would there be a significant performance loss if i were to add those 2 non dual channel sticks? i know my dual channel ram will only run at the pc 2700 speed but granted i would have 1.7 gigs of ram just curious about this?
 
I would just add the 512MB stick for 1.5GB of PC3200. I don't think that you need more than that, nor would you see much gain from 1.7GB of RAM at a slower speed.
 
oh the 512 is PC2700 too......hmmmm

Do you need another 512MB of RAM? Are you doing anything intensive enough to use it? If so, then add it, you should see performance gain regardless of the speed. And if you do add the 512, you might as well add the 256 as well.
 
Plug it in and see if there is a difference....

If you think it improves than use it, otherwise don't.....
