RAM slot not recognizing any RAM

I ran dxdiag and it said I only had 1 Gb of RAM, when there's two in there. I took one out of the slot on the right, and started it up, and it showed I had one Gb of RAM. I took that stick out and replaced it in the left slot with the other stick, and it worked fine. I then tried starting it up with one stick in the right slot, and it did not start.

My specs are:
XP Home edition
PC Chips P25G v1.0A ( VIA P4M800 ) Intel P4 Socket 478 Motherboard
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.40 GHz (2 CPUs)
ATI Raedon HD 4600 series

It sounds like you've figured out the problem - a bad RAM slot. There's not much you can do. If they still have a supply of those boards you can try to get a new one or replace it with a different board entriely that still supports your CPU but that will require reinstalling your OS.
