Ram slots

I recently bought a 512mb card of DDR ram awhile ago and it only came to my attention now that i remembered hearing something about putting the biggest memory card in the first slot.

well i think my other 512mb card is SD ram, not sure, but if it is, will it make a difference what slot they are in? DDR ram is supposed to be better so i want my computer to utilize that before my SD ram.

Hmmm

Are you sure you can use both simultaneoulsy? As to the order, I do not think it matters in terms of size. It's definitely true that DDR is way better than SD-RAM.

JAN :D

Dont sdram and ddr ram use a different size socket? and if they use the same size, i thought motherboards can only support ddr or sdram, not both.

My PC case has a sticker that say DDR SDRAM so a assume it uses both.

If it doesnt, it got shoved in there anyway and it detects it so i dont have a problem :P

DDRRAM is DDRSDRAM. Unless there are 4 slots like a k7s5a mobo and they are differn't number of pins then they are both DDR.

And for mobo's like that they CAN"T be used at the same time, so BOTH of them must be DDRRAM.

DDR is also called DDR SDRAM, which is exactly the same thing. So that means that your computer uses DDR ram, so you have 512MB DDR SDRAM in your computer, i dont think it matters what order they go into, unless you want dual channel.

You can only use DDR or SDR memory at any given time. You cant use both simultaneously (as for dual channel, a board featuring SDR memory prolly wont have a chipset supporting dual channel)
