During my last build, before my current one, I was on the market for DDR2 RAM. At the time, either there was no, or I didn't see RAM which was said to be optimized for Intel or AMD, it was just memory, with the normal specs.
Now it seems like most high end memory is "optimized for i3, i5, i7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", which kind of leads to me think - is it just a gimmick? Is there really any difference between RAM "Optimized for AMD or Intel"? Since Intel's chips are selling like hotcakes right now, it makes sense for companies to say their RAM is optimized for i3/5/7, it makes it look better compared to companies selling "standard" memory. "WOW! CORSAIR IS SELLING RAM THATS OPTIMIZED FOR MY I7!!! THAT MEANS IT WILL GO SoOoOoOo much faster!".
If it isn't a gimmick and there's real optimization behind their claims what would be the effect of using Intel optimized memory with an AMD setup? Excluding triple channel memory which obviously is for Intel.
