RAM Timings Didn't Change...

I upgraded from 512mb dual channel RAM to 1024mb dual channel RAM from Corsair. CPU-Z told me that the timings on the old RAM were 3-3-3-8. My new RAM is supposedly rated at 2-3-3-6, but after I installed it, the specs in CPU-Z didn't change. Unfortunately I have a Dell, and I think somebody said that my timings cannot be altered. Is this true? Thanks.

there is software where you can change your RAM timings, but usually it doesn't work too well. When tighning timings u often need a bit etra voltage, and with the Dell that's not an option.

So I pretty much just have to leave it where it's at until I build my next computer? Thanks for the quick reply :)
