I'm quite new to upgrading computers, but everything has gone smoothly except for the RAM, which has always been giving me problems.
Anyways, currently, i have a 1x4gb Corsair XMS3 RAM, ASUS P7P55D-E LX motherboard, Intel i5 650 processor, and a MSI GTX 660 TI graphics card. OS is Windows 7
that set up currently works fine. However, i tried to upgrade to a 12 gb ram configuration, with a set of 2x4gb XMS3 + 1x4gb XMS3. It did not work, as when i tried to turn on my computer, it would freeze at the BIOS screen.
Next i removed 1x4gb RAM, and used only the 2x4gb ram configuration, and i made sure that it was in alternating slots, furthest away from the CPU, and again, it would freeze at the bios.
Then i configured the RAM to sit in adjacent RAM slots, and this time, it would not freeze at the BIOS. However, it would give me the blue screen once it gets to the boot animation.
I would really like to have 8gb of ram, and if possible 12 gb.
