Ram troubles??possibly?

i bought pc 2700 1gb stick of ram at newegg. Fit, everything registers. But cpu-z and everlast say the one gig stick is pc 3200 and last time i had people here check and last time i checked my comptuer only took pc 2700 and no higher. It was bought off a commercial for crying out loud 2 years ago. Is this true that it is in fact some how pc 3200 or are teh programs screwing up and how come it can register both sticks of ram and say i have 1.5g. Is this is abd thing if it is true?

it says it under speed. It says the gig stick is pc3200 and the 512 is pc 2700. My mobo is over 2 years old and retired.

the RAM might be that speed but your motherbored can prabally only run it at 2700.
