Ram Upfrade Problem????

Ram Upgrade Problem????

My father in law has an old Hp Pavilion 514n, it has 256 of ram and 64 of it being allocated for the video. He wanted to upgrade it. So i went out today and got him a 512 stick for it.

This is the stick that i bought.

When installed i get a 1-3-3-1 Error Beep, If i install it with the stick that is in it, it just wont read that its there. Nothing at all. I have no idea except maybe the stick is faulty. Any help would be great????

Unfortunately, the old HP's were very picky about what memory they required. Its either a faulty stick or that stick won't downclock to 266mhz which is what HP recommendations for memory for that computer.
