RAM Upgrade Questions

I currently have an i5-11400 CPU with 16GB DDR4 RAM. Using Task Manager in Windows 10, I never see my memory usage go above 5GB. Even when using multiple programs, browsing the web, editing video, converting videos, streaming YouTube, etc. I do not play games.

Considering I'm only using 5GB of the 16GB I have, is there any reason to consider upgrading to 32GB?

Second, I was thinking of upgrading my CPU/Motherboard to an i5-14500. Would there be any real world advantage to switching to DDR5, or would DDR4 be adequate for the tasks I do most (see above). Staying with DDR4 would allow me to reuse the RAM I already have, thus saving a few dollars. My system is only three years old, so I don't want to waste money/parts if I don't need to.

probably not that dramatic of an upgrade unless there's a workflow you're not happy with like transcoding

I'd probably jump platform before swapping RAM kits unless you plan on holding the system for a while. RAM prices are supposed to go up sooner than later. That and the whole 13th/14th gen debacle.

No, it wouldn't make sense to get more ram. And if your were to go to ddr5 then you would need a new motherboard anyway.
