I currently have 2Gb of ram in my laptop and I was wondering what everyones opinion on upgrading to 3Gb is? I can get a 2Gb stick of ram for $40 because it's half of for only today. Also is crucial an okay brand? Last question will Dell know if I fiddle around inside my laptop to install the ram ...or I could buy 2 and have 4 Gb :P

buy 2 and have 4 gigs. if you do it with 1 gig sticks you will have to sometimes pop open the keyboard. with 2x2gb sticks you can put the 2 on the bottom and its really easy. plus its easier on the computerto have 2 gig sticks

how much ram depends on what you want to do. 2gigs is fine now-a-days. 4 seems like over kill.

brands really dont matter but some people have prefrences. go with mainstream brands to be safe i gues.

why would it matter if Dell knew you had 32mb or OVER 9000!!!! Gb or ram?

Since it is a laptop, id recommend 4gb purely because it will keep dual channel enabled. However, 3gb of RAM is really good for a 32-bit operating system.

It is one of the highest amounts you can detect on 32-bit, also, if you use Vista, it will perform faster on 3GB over 2GB.
