Ram Upgrade

Hey there,

Just wondering if it possible to upgrade a Toshiba Qosmio x775 to 16GB of RAM if I bought the parts myself and decided to do it?

I saw this and it said 16GB of RAM so, I wondered.

It is a huron river system, so as long as they installed 4 DIMMs to it, you can install 16GB of RAM.

Seems like that model on amazon is a different one since its so much more than the one on the toshiba website. If you search "Qosmio X775" on amazon you'll see many different models.

Looks like 8gb is the max memory allowed. I think amazon listed it wrong.

Darn, it looks nice and Toshiba is known for long lasting laptops. I just wish they go with the rest of the world and allow 16GB.

I would argue against that it is not going with the rest of the world. 16GB is too much memory and chances are you aren't going to be needing that much unless you are doing 3D rendering and similar programs. No game will use more than 8GB.

Walk over to the toilet, and flush $40 bucks... You accomplish the same thing. Now if you want it "just to say you have it", then that's your choice, but generally people don't like flushing money down their toilets.
