im currerntly on 1gb of ram. i play games n stuff. jus feel like its a bit sluggish. will upgrading to 2gb make a noticeable difference?

That will depend on a few things. 2gb will definitely see apps and games run smoother with others things taking up memory with only 1gb installed. Going from a 1gb of performance memory to 2gb of value ram made some differences right away. If you simply seeing Windows slow down from having installed and removed many programs a good cleaning of the system registry and reducing startup items will go further.

It's very unlikely RAM will give you much of a performance increase. Load times might decrease as a swap file is not as nessesary, but raw performance will not increase.

For running Vista or simply larger memory programs like those where background services seem to cause things to lag a little the increase will help for smoothing things out. Looking into a faster cpu and better video card for gaming in particular would then see a gain there with the increase in ram. Performance increases are generally a system wide tweak rather then just one item. Vista and advanced programs like CAD seem to love memory more.

my comp specs are :

3.4ghz intel core 2 duo, intel p4
1.00gb DDR2
geforce 6200 fx agp
foxconn p4m800p7mb motherboard

If anything, you need to upgrade your video card to experiance a higher level of gaming. You also have a AGP slot, kinda out of date, you may want to get a new motherboard, something that has PCI-E on it and supports your Core 2 Duo Processor. With about $150 of upgrades, you will see a overall difference.
