Random red lines on my monitor

So for some reason i sometimes get these random flashing red lines on my monitor. they go from right to left, and are really annoying. I don't know what causes them, and it's hard to get a good screenshot.

But anyway, if the background colour on my monitor is light (white for example) then the lines turn blue-ish. if the colour is dark they go back to red.

Turning the monitor off and on again does nothing. The only thing that fixes them is a restart, and then they're gone for 2 weeks or so.

Anyone know what's going on?
 
ok try the monitor on a different computer if the same thing happens its the monitor and you need a new one .. if not the it would be your gpu
 
This has happened on my 3870, 4850, 8600gt and 5770. I don't think it's a video card issue.

It also happens when i overclock too far with not enough voltage, but my overclock is 8 hours prime95 stable.

I don't have the PCI-E frequency overclocked anymore either, i was running at 110mhz until i heard it kills hard drives...

Haven not seen these lines again. I'm sure they will return soon enough.
