Hey all,

I have a Dell XPS 410. I recently flashed the BIOS to version 2.1.2 and moved back into my college dorm room. Twice today the usb keyboard and mouse stopped responding and an error message in the XP taskbar appeared stating that "a USB device has stopped responding or malfunctioned." This computer is 2 months old. Here are its specs (and if its the motherboard, I'm gonna scream:mad: ):

XPS 410
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4 GHz
2x1GB (2GB) PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM
160 GB Seagate SATA Hard Drive
640MB BFG Geforce 8800GTS (one wow of a GPU)
Soundblaster Audigy 4
Dell Ultrasharp 1704FPt with SA501 speaker bar
Windows XP Media Center 2005 (I'm gonna have Vista Home Premium next week with DX10 :D )
DVD+-RW and combo drives
PCI Firewire card

try installing any drivers that came with your mouse and keyboard, or lookup drivers for them.

also look for a XP USB malfunction patch in google or something

did this happen before the bios flash? if so reset your CMOS and you should be fine. do that anyway though. it resets your stock BIOS. this is probably the best option. there is a jumper on you motherboard (look in the manual to find it) and you take it off the two pins its on and move it over one pin, leave it for 5 seconds, and transfer it back to the first two pins. i would do this.
