Random system freezing

For the past two months or so my computer will randomly lock up on me, either while I'm working on it or when I'm away and the screen saver is on. I have to restart it manually which has become very annoying since it does this around every two days or less. I feel like this is most likely a motherboard or hard drive problem (?) as I am running RAID, but ran the same hard drives in the same setup on my prior build and did not have this problem. Do I need to update my BIOS or some other utility on my motherboard? It's an Asus P8P67 Evo, and the drives are two 1tb Seagates striped and two 1.5tb Seagates mirrored. My graphics card is the same Evga Gts 250 I've had for many years now but it's never given me any problems before and the drivers are current
 
You say this is a different build then the previous one, did you do a fresh install of windows?
 
I need you to post a log for me to see what is running at bootup.

Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

XP users, just run the program.
Vista and 7 users must right click on the icon and click on run as, if the run as option doesn't appear then press and hold the shift key while right clicking on the icon.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

When the hijackthis log appears in a notepad file, click on the edit menu, click select all, then click on the edit menu again and click on copy. Come back to your reply and right click on your mouse and click on paste.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces
 
Try updating your motherboard BIOS. I was pulling my hair trying to figure it out and I did this and it solved all my random crashing issues now my system is rock solid.

I also have attempted to update my BIOS but honestly I don't really know how :(

Also, sometimes while opening an application such as Adobe Bridge or even Windows Photo Viewer, it becomes very sluggish and eventually stops responding. I'm assuming that this computer should also not be doing that since it's specs more than enough qualify it to run just about any program/ application
 
I'm not sure if you can disable these from running at bootup or not as they pertain to your sound card.

But I would use the msconfig utility to disable these and see if it still freezes up.

Another possibility is, do you have any usb devices plugged into the usb 3 ports?
 
Okay I'll do that and see if it helps anything.

I do yes, an external hard drive I just purchased, but the problems have been occurring long before I started using it though. My USB drivers are current as I had to update them for the 3.0 ports to recognize the drive if that affects anything
 
Also, right after my previous post it froze, immediately after my one of my hard drives made a "click" noise. I think I posted in the past that my drives that on occasion which became pretty annoying and was told the drives could be failing, but the clicking stopped for the most part and I just haven't had time or the resources to replace the drives. Could it be that the drives are just slowly getting worse or something of the sort?

It's pretty easy to update the BIOS. Download the most recent BIOS for your motherboard from here: http://ca.asus.com/en/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8P67_EVO/#download

Just make sure you select the appropriate OS as I am unsure of what you are running. Unzip the file and copy it to a flash drive. The flash drive must be formatted into a FAT32 system in order for it to work. After that is done restart your computer and get into the BIOS menu. If I remember correctly Asus EZ Flash is located under the tools menu. Select it and follow the instructions. If your still not sure consult your manual, it has step by step instructions, it takes about a minute to do it and can save you many headaches. But the hard drive clicking isn't a good sign either, that's the crappy thing about RAID if one drive goes your hooped.
 
Well, I downloaded the most recent BIOS update and flashed it, and upon reboot the only thing I get on my screen after the Asus boot screen is "Missing operating system" :(
 
Okay, so after a few days of messing around with stuff I decided to just take my other drives out for the time being and replaced it with one I had lying around. The problem is still here though, it'll still freeze up randomly forcing me to turn it off manually. I'm going to start taking out components one at a time from to maybe have a process of elimination but I don't know what else to do :(
