is it true theres not much point to get a raptor, it spins at 10k rpms, but only has 1.5 gb transfer, and most new HD have 3 gb transfer rates

is that about right?

Raptor costs twice as much and offers half the size... So it's 4 times more expensive then needed while it only performs about 1.05 times better in general?

the fact that raptors are faster than the other HDDs spins at7.2k rpms its true. if you wanna see the real deference between them take 2 raptors and RAID them to one!! its gonna be a bit noisier than the other HDDs but very faster!!

True... But again, for that same price you could get like 5 normal drives and put them in Raid which would be much much faster O.O

Raptors are very fast; I had a pair of 36.7GB drives (or whatever the ~40GB model was :P) and they would scream! However, under normal usage, there really was little benefit to the extra speed.

all i plan on using my computer for (when it will be under the most stress) is when i beat solitaire and the cards go bouncing around, i want NO LAG when that happens --NONE-- i'll settle for no less than the best

lol on a serious note---so even with the raptors 1.5 gb transfer speed vs newer drives 3.0 gb transfer speeds, its still faster? im at a stump right now trying to figure out which im going to get--

this is going to be my gaming computer
