Here is an example of what I plan to have/upgrade to this year. I would just like to know what some of you think about it and how it will do it future gaming. Feedback and suggestions are very welcome.

1. Athlon64 3500+/3700+/3800+ (maybe even X2)
2. MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum
3. Radeon X800XL PCI-E
4. 1GB Kingston HyperX (pc2700)
5. Fortron BlueStorm 500W

I don't plan on overclocking and the last two on this list I already have.
Again I need suggestions! If you can find an Intel Setup with better gaming performance for cheaper please share!(lol)

That 1GB PC2700 is going to slow you down. At least PC3200 even if you dont overclock...is what i recommend.

Other than that it looks OK to me.

well i guess I could always oc to 3200 speeds

yah if your PC2700 will let you, it's definetly not guaranteed.

can you not afford PC3200, or are you trying to save money or what? You can get decent PC3200 for the same price as nice PC2700.

You're crossing platforms -- pick one :)

MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum
Ok with this mobo the 3700 isnt an option

1GB Kingston HyperX (pc2700)
You're really bottlenecking the system with this :)

Fortron BlueStorm 500W
Have a look at the PSU101 :)

well I guess I could always oc to 3200 speeds
Yes but with PC3200 you can OC to much higher ..

1. There will be a 939 3700
2. I have my RAM at 185x2 at stock voltage and just got this RAM in Oct.
3. My PSU is sweet and I got it last week
4. There will be such a small increase from 2700>3200 that its not worth spending $200 on. UNLLLLLEES Someone wanted to trade their 3200 or higher with mine.

"Will" :) Granted you said within the year -- there is also a ADA3700DEI4xx which is a s754 part.

185 "what"?

Coherence seems to be an issue ... while the performance from 166MHz to 200Mhz may not be noticeable, neither will the price.

1. I oc'ed my FSB from 166 to 185..200 means PC3200 speed
2. I already have PC2700 RAM and I'm not wasting money on 3200. But I would trade for a higher clocked cheaper brand RAM.
