Re-Connecting a wired router

Hey I need some help, I really don't know much about computers just looking for some help. I recently got a wireless router and it is giving me problems when I try to connect my xbox live to it( I have the wireless network adapter) So I'm looking to just go back to good old wired connections, is there any way to reset my internet connection so that my old wired router will work. Right now my wireless routers is hooked into it as well as my computer.

what kind of internet connection do you have, if cable then your router is probably acting as a firewall which means you need to forward the ports that xbox live uses. The TCP port that needs forwarded is 3074, and UDP 3074, 88. Once you get those setup you should be able to use the wireless. Unless this isn't what's causing your problem in which case that will be no help at all. Good luck, but i'd give that a try before i'd go back to the old wired router.
