Re-install system

Hi folks, I need someone's help.
I have a lop top that had been changed the language to spanish, so was the system. I don't know what was done to it, but since the system was changed, some of the keys on the keyboard don't work. So now I want to re-install the system to whatever is used here in USA, or to its original system. You know the computers come with some kind of system buck up. I have done it with my desk top, but my lop top did not came with those disks. I tried to do so with the disks that came with the desk top, but it doesn't run it.

My question is: where I can get the disk to re-install the system? Can I do it on line? (down load it), or should I buy it somewhere?, or better to take it to a computer repair shop?

You should be able to contact the laptop manufacturer and order recovery disks for it. Sometimes you can do that online especially if its an HP laptop.
 
you dont always need to re-install to change the language
are you on windows vista or 7 if so go here it may be able to help

if on xp or a basic version of vista or 7 you can find the language files on the internet but microsoft say you need to but an additional license which i think is riduculous !!!!

to change the keyboard back to usa setup check in control panal for regional settings then choose the keyboard option (i think not at home atm)

Here is another problem I have. the monitor is to dark, almost like it would be turned off, I can barely see whats opened. Plus the keys to adjust the brightness dont work nor the ones for the volume and mute. In fact, all the keys that work with the function key don' t work. I turned off the pc and connected to it the monitor of my desk top pc to the lop top, and when I turned it back on only the monitor of the desktop works well. Any way, I ordered the restoration system cds to re-install the system. Any sugestion is very welcome. Thanks.

I ran the system recovery in my loptop. The problem I have now is that the monitor is too dark, I can barely can see whats on the window.
Can any body has an idea what could be wrong with it?
