Really dark videos

hi, everything pretty much works fine on my computer. i have a 7900GS, i never have any problems with games or anything.
Except the only problem i have, and it has happened since i first bought the computer, is when i go to open up a video or movie in either VLC, Windows media player, winamp or divx player, the movie is really really dark.
I constantly find myself opeining everything in vlc media player and just turning the gamma up, which makes it look pretty crap anyways.

Everything else graphics wise is pretty good, like, i have never opened up a game and its been mega dark. just video's. i know their is something wrong.

i have a 7900Gs

any help?
 
I use to have this same problem. I've since upgraded from XP to Vista. I no longer have the problem. My only suggestion is that you uninstall the current drivers and re-install the latest current ones available.
 
You'll have to buy a higher quality monitor, one with a higher rated contrast ratio. Older computer monitors/lcd's have low ratios because for one, the technology wasn't fully developed, and two most people weren't watching movies on computer screens or things of that sort. 800:1 I think is about the contrast ratio of an average computer monitor, whereas most LCD tv's being sold are 3000:1 or more.
