my brother-in-law has a mac laptop that is about 4 years old or so. Yesterday, his harddrive apparently died and he has no access to any of his files. Unfortunately he did not have anything backed up. All of his pictures, music, videos, work data etc from the last few years is apparently gone. That includes valuable family memories of their 2 year-old boy, vacations and... well you can imagine how he and his wife feel.
My question is the following:
is there any way that we can try hooking up his mac laptop to my pc to see if any of the files are retrievable? He is considering sending the thing to a specialist that would charge him at least 500 Euros! But I thought maybe I could try helping first. I know my way around windows pretty well, but I'm not at all familiar with macs.
Any help is greatly appreciated - this is urgent!
