So I tried orthos with my cpu on stock voltage with no other programs running and I did the 1st test the cpu only one and I lasted like 2 and a half min because the test stopped when the cpu temps got to 79 on 1 core and 73 on the other.

Why is it so damn high?

Stable temp is like 26, usually at 30-35 when im on the internet.

I hope when I get a cooler it will be coooooooooler.

stock, 3.2 (stock voltage 1.4)

Dont think it has thermal grease cause its stock

I dont even know what that is really

the fan im getting has it already applied i think its the

ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler

ok so any idea why its so hot?

btw when I get my fan should I get arctic silver 5 on it? I heard its the best but the fan already has it applied so Id probably need to remove it?

Hey man, pre-applied thermal paste (whether a stock hsf or an aftermarket one) is not worth using. Buy some Arctic Silver and put it on yourself.

I bet if you put it on your stock cooler, you'd see some improvement, though it's still way too high.

No you want to clean the old paste off off both the chip and heatsink.

What I do for paste is I put 1 blob about the size of a uncooked grain of rice...then I take a sandwich baggie over my finger and smooth it over the chip. I then take a back end of a razor and smooth it to try to even the paste and then put the heatsink on. What ever is left on the sandwich bag I sort of smooth into the heatsink to fill in the small "gaps" on it...+ I am cheap and hate to waste even a ounce.

Also is your 6000+ the 89w or 125w version?

I believe you need some sort of special thing to remove the thermal paste. I don't know exactly what I need and it's sort of expensive...

I think I'll stick with the one that comes with the fan and if it's too high I can get the paste to lower it.

After reading the reviews for cooler people said the stock paste is pretty good...

Will the temp still be as high when under huge stress? :/

I would just wipe the old stuff off. When you put the new grease on, use something like a credit card to spread the grease. You want a nice even coating.

Right. Make sure you get the CC nice and dirty :D. actaully that's what shold be done, but you don't need ARTIC SILVER, any thermal grease will work. Mine was MASCOOL.

lol.

thermal paste can be removed with alcohol and a rag, some tp, or your t-shirt. the stuff comes right off of the metal, dont expect it to come off your clothes as easily though.

One thing, if you built this computer yourself. Sometimes there is a plastic film over the pre-applied thermal paste, it's common for people not to notice this, and to leave it on there.

I wouldn't apply thermal paste to pre-existing paste. Clean up any existing stuff on the sink and the chip before moving forward.

Of course, that is theoretical because I have never actually done it, but read it somewhere. Seems like good advice.
