^^^look at the title. I have an FX 5200 , and I did OC it, but it ran fine, until this problem. I brought it back down to stock, and it still has it. Now, the problem. Whenever I play a game(not including pinball) the gfx will be horrible. It seems like it is 4bit color or something, and it does this on every game. I have tried reinstalling the games, but no cigar. Could I have blown up my gfx? I OCed it till Coolbits told me that I couldn't, and I even put a fan on it. Any ideas???? I really really neeeeed to play my games:rolleyes:

1. What heatsink did/do you have on there? Adding a fan doesnt mean crap if the heatsink sucks
2. Sounds like the VC is toast

It was the stock HS, I wasn't gonna bother replacing something like that.

But the games ran fine while it was OCed, up to that one point. I did not OC it more, or change anything internally, that I can remember. Could anything else probably be the problem? Could I try the IGP? Or would it have been disabled because I bought it with a VC(even though the port is there)???

you've fried your graphics card basically... sometimes you can overclock your graphics and play a game fine, only whilst you're doing this... the card is under intense pressure to perform at the overclocked settings and will get extremely hot.

I've done it before with my 9800XT... played Doom 3, and 5 minutes later, after everything was running fine, artifacts show up (dodgey white bits and distorted colours flickering all over the place etc.)... it means your graphics card is getting to hot and the chip is getting burnt out...seems like you've overdone it a bit :(

Also, when overclocking anything, it's best to upgrade the HS/fans as well, that's why there are such things to replace your stock cooler on your 9800 pro for example...

"I wasn't gonna bother replacing something like that."

Well that's just cost you a graphic card, when you could have spent 5 quid on a decent HS!

You can try downclocking the card but as i said earlier, adding a fan to a crappy heatsink wont matter since the heat isnt collecting in the heatsink quite yet

It is downclocked. I'm not sure (this happened a while ago, and I had other things on my mind) but I may or may not have downclocked it b4 this happened.

How bad would IGP be? These are not extensive games ('90s).
