Reasons to Over Clock?

Sorry boys, I have some dumb questions about CPUs.
1. What are the advantages -disadvantages of Over Clocking?
I have an AMD 3.2 GHz(?) CPU that claims that it is easy to OC, but why should I do so? I have no problems using it as is. Don't I invite problems if I try to OC it and is it not fast enough as is?
Like I have said before, I do just general computing, no gaming, but do some simple Video Editing.
2. Also, what are a North/South Bridge and a Chip Set?
Any answers/comments?

The reason to overclock is very obvious, the processor is faster, and so, your computer is faster.
If your computer lags when you game, you should maybe overclock it a little bit, but be very carefull because,

If Overclocking would have been save, then all computers would have been overclocked by default. If it's OC'd , it will wore off faster, overheat more, and possibly damage your components. But this, only if you stress it out more. I think that a computer is designed to run 24/24, so if you overclock it, but not use it continuosly for hard tasks, it should be no problem. Cheers .
