i received this email from newegg and i'm wondering if it's valid. it all seems to be legit but i just want some confirmation...

this came from: [email protected]

Dear Valued Newegg Customer:

We regret to inform you that our 3rd party Mail-in-rebate processing provider is unable to honor the rebate checks for the item you purchased at Newegg.com. At Newegg, however, we are committed to ensuring your satisfaction and will personally take on the responsibility to process each and every rebate at our own expense.

As we commit to doing everything possible to ensure proper payment of your check, we apologize for any inconvenience derived from this matter and we thank you for your patience and understanding.

Please make sure to follow these general guidelines:

1. Do not deposit the check into your bank or any financial institution, it will not be honored

2. Make a photocopy of your rebate check

3. Mail original check and a copy of this email to the following address:

Newegg Inc.
Attn: Mail-In Rebate
17708 Rowland St.
City of Industry, CA 91748

Newegg will also be receiving your information directly from the Mail-In rebate processing company and we will expedite the issuing of new checks to each affected customer. If you have not received your new check from Newegg within 2-4 weeks please contact our world class customer service at: Newegg Inc. Customer Service: 1-800-390-1119

the item is a panasonic shaver. amount is 10 bucks

I know their Headquarters are located in City of Industry, CA but not sure about the street address. I'd call them up and ask them if it's a legit email.

Contact newegg, ask them... I couldn't see any of those companies going through that for 10 bucks.

Or go cash the check, and tell them you don't check your email. lol.

Looks kinda weird. Why would they tell you the rebate was invalid at first. Then tell you not to cash the check and send it to them? If the rabate was invalid you would not have got a check to cash or send them.

EDIT: The company (owners of rebatestatus.com) seems to have gone bust as of the 19th of November, contact NewEgg methinks.

I wouldn't do anything with that e-mail, if you get the check they wouldn't need you to send it back, they would just cancel it.

Definitely legit... There is a front page sticky thread on slickdeals about rebatestatus going out of business and how to get the rebates from them. Knowing newegg, they are rpobably paying out of pocket to fulfill them.

yes i've known about cpg's bankrupcy from my visits to fatwallet. fortunately all my rebates went through.

my contact at newegg said i would have to send the copy of the check to newegg IF the check came from CPG - CONSOLIDATED PUBLISHING GROUP. mine was from newegg so i'm cashing the sucker.

just making sure. my bank charges 15 bones for bounced checks.

I think it's a result of Newegg looking out for its customers.

Otherwise, you cash the check and find out a week later it's no good and get pissed at Newegg for advertising a MIR and it's no good. They're just giving you advance notice.
