Rebuilding a laptop

hey everyone. I have two extra (older) laptops laying around that I was thinking about rebuilding. One is a Dell Latitude and the other is an Acer Aspire 3000 series. Both no longer work at all, but I thought if I replaced the motherboard, CPU, memory, etc. I could bring them back to life. My company recently bought 4 barebones kits and put two of them together, but I'm quickly learning that desktops are easier than laptops. Does anyone have any suggestions on websites that could help me rebuild these? I live in Houston, so I wanted to go to directron to get the parts, but I wasn't sure where to start. Right now I can't even the cover off to take the mother board out. Any suggestions?

You can't just buy any ol motherboard and upgrade laptops. You must find the specific board made for the case. Some models may have many that would fit in the case but typically it's quite limited.

Look on ebay, see what's available. That'll be your only source for pricing... You may find some new stuff off the manufacturers website, but it'll probably cost as much as a new laptop.
