Hey everyone,
I finally built a newer system but am having an uncommon problem. Not sure if this belongs here or general computer chat.... The Spec's are as follows,
Motherboard: Gigabyte G1 Sniper M3
Processor: I5 3570K
Thermal Compound: Artic Silver 5
Cooler: CM Hyper 212 EVO Push/Pull
Memory: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport (4 x 4GB) DDR 3 1600Mhz
Video card: Sapphire 7870 XT 2GB (Tahiti Core)
HDD OS: 120 SSD OCZ Vertex Plus (refurbished)
HDD Storage: WD 2TB WD20EZRX
HDD Backup: WD 2TB WD20WARX
Case: LianLi Lancool PC-K62 (Thanks for recommending this case, I LOVE IT!)
PSU: Antec Earthworks 650Watt
Fans: (3) 140MM Coolermaster R4-L4S-10AB-GP blue LED, (3) 120MM Rosewill ROCF-11004 Hyperborea's.
Mouse: Razer Deathadder 3.5G
keyboard: Razer Blackwidow 2013 ULTIMATE
Monitor: Acer X223W, 22 Inch
Speakers:Sylvania 2.1 Surround, Amazing for $24
Window 7 home 64bit OEM
I'm using the on board sound card, Creative CA0132 chip. The problem is while running a game and talking on skype, after a while I will get only distorted sounds. Every sound, from the game, skype call, music from media player, and general system sounds. It makes it imposable to chat on skype, although I can bear with it until I finish my battle field 3 game to restart the computer.
I only seem to have this problem while playing BF3 and talking on skype. Any other game doesn't seem to cause this problem.
Overall thinking would lead me to believe it is a heat related issue, processor has never hit 70C and the video card will hover around 63C under full load in Furmark for hours on end. The video card fans never go over 80% with my set fan curves and maintain the below 65C temps.
I am running the three 140MM fans as intakes, and only the rear 120MM as an exhaust fan, the two 120MM fans on the EVO are push/pull.
The sound card driver is, 6.0.101.1013.
Video Driver, 12.104.0.0
This problem has me stumped, I've fixed countless BSOD, five I think. Contacted Gigabyte right before posting this as I am not sure they will be able to fix this issue without an RMA/replacement.
The tower is sitting under a card table, which does cause heat buid up but this problem also happened before I relocated and had the tower next to my desk. Only other issue I have is the smell of the video card PCB heating up. I've remove all plastic covers from the card, but it puts out the heated PCB odor overtime. Same smell as reflowing a Dell M3050 motherboard in the oven @385 degrees for eight minutes.
