recognises ssd as hdd

my mates got a laoptop a HP i3 dont know the model but anyway he put a ssd in it and instaled windows 7 home premium it works fine, ie boats up fast and loads programs fast but he says in my computer its showing as a normal hard disk drive and he says that if you insatll a ssd windows 7 should recognise and call it a solid state drive?

No, it won't call it anything different, but it will use it properly, so you will be getting the much, much better speeds, lower power consumption and less heat
