So this is Winxp? If so right click on My network neighborhood and go properties. The network card is not listed there? To get to device manager, right click on my computer and under the hardware tab it says device manager. If the device is not listed there, make sure the card is physically installed correctly. Soo... what OS you have?
The card worked previously? And did you make sure the card was in the slot all the way? If it is fine... Remove the card (computer off) then turn on and let run for a few seconds, turn it off and reinstall the card. Boot up computer and see if the card shows up. If the card does not show up try telling the computer to search for new hardware... Do you already have a driver for the card? Also check on miscrosoft's update page, i know there is a specific driver on there for atleast 1 ethernet card.
But the nwtwork card is shoing in device manager now? If so, does it show a yellow explanation mark next to it ! If so what model number is the ethernet card? You can go find the driver on the vendors website.. I can help if you give me the brand and the model number. Then install a new driver...
Ok.. Where or how did you get the ethernet card? Did it come as a piece of a system? Like a dell, or emachine or anything of the sort? Did it say what type f card it was on on the card itself when you physical yremoved it and replaced it? Or any numbers on a sticker which was on the card?
So there is absolutely no way of identifying who made the card? You found it on the street? You did not purchase it? No box, receipt... maybe a stray disk laying in a drawer saying what type it is? Swell if not then go buy a new one.. only like 20$
ill find it out somehow but im pretty sure its realtek, brb, and even when i unplug the thing from the PCI i still go to device manager and its still there (ethernet controller)
