recommend me a wireless router

for a home network, i have the following:

acer laptop has b/g/n capabilities
zotac desktop has b/g capabilities & ethernet
epson printer has b/g maybe n capabilities
and a couple desktops with ethernet.

i'd rather get a good g router than a crappy n one, looking to spend $50~$80

They won't give you any older versions. It's a very good series of routers, thats the only G series router i recommend.
 
I have a D-Link DIR-825.

It's a simultaneous Dual Band N Router (2.4Ghz & 5Ghz)

Backwards compatible...it's a great unit!

We run 5 machines here and it does a stellar job for everyone!
 
Linksys WRT54GL is one of the best you can get for that price. I have one of those loaded up with Tomato, that thing is freaking awesome. It's a g router, though, but it's a quality one at that, should be just what you're after.

EDIT: I'm not entirely sure what you mean by locking out or dumbing down... the stock firmware doesn't allow access to all features and is, TBH, a pile of crap, so I assume that's what you're referring to. Anyways, with custom firmware (Tomato is really easy to use and easy to set up, even for a total networking noob like me) you get all the possible features and cool things anyways, so that's nothing to worry about.

ok, i was reading about the wrt54g being crippled, so the gl should be ok with aftermarket firmware?
i should mention that this is for a business line that i need a router for so i didn't want to dork around too much with it. is it an ok router 'out of the box'?
i would need to do lots of homework before flashing teh thing.
 
You shouldn't have to do anything to it. If all your wanting is giving multiple computers internet access, your set to go. The default firmware is sufficient for most people.
 
ok i ordered the WRT54GL from amazon, had a giftcard and needed a book from them. total came to $33 + free shipping :)
i think i'm going to want to load custom firmware, so i'll be back if i need help. w00t w00t! :D
