Recommendation on cable internet modem/router?

Hey guys,

My friend is looking for modem and router, for cable internet. Can anyone recommend me a good priced product?

It is with a company called Teksavvy in Canada.

My friend is looking at the cable internet option, not sure how the cable would have any impact (if any) on what kind of router I should get.

Are all normal routers like Cisco's Valet compatible with both DSL and the cable internets? Cable internet would use the round looking plug instead of the phone jack?
